We found Derek from attending a wedding fair. From the get go, he was friendly and knowledgeable. On that day, he told me “the person you spend most of your wedding day with, apart from your partner, is your photographer, so it’s important you get on with the person you hire, even if that’s not me”.
We ended up hiring Derek because we was an incredibly talented and experienced wedding photographer, fairly priced, and generally a nice man who made us laugh. We felt comfortable around him and like we had known him for ages, yet he still maintained professionalism.
The package we booked included a pre-wedding photoshoot, where we met for an hour to practise poses and discuss ideas of the big day. When doing some more intimate poses, Derek always checked to see if me and my partner were happy to carry on. This was not something I had thought of before, but on reflection, made us feel safe and respected. Derek truly wanted what was best for us, and this shone through everything he did for us. It helped us to feel more confident going into the wedding day.
We also met with Derek via video call to discuss our vision for photos, and completed questionnaires so he was able to fully understand what we wanted from him.
Fast forward to the wedding day, and Derek was, as per usual, brilliant. The ability to make you feel relaxed and laugh ahead of your wedding day is one that not a lot of photographers will possess.
Derek did not only take absolutely stunning photographs of us, our friends and family, and the wedding day itself, but also helped to herd people from A-B for reception drinks, our confetti tunnel and sparkler run.
My wife and I aren’t planning on getting divorced any time soon, but if we were, we would both go back to Derek to do our next wedding shots!
