The Cake Story

A wedding cake just as we wanted, looked amazing and tasted even better! Very little contact was needed to achieve what we asked for but Dawn was great every step of the way. Thank you!

We chose Dawn at The Cake Story to bake our lovely wedding cake last April. The whole experience was great from start to finish. Dawn gives a personal and private tasting with lots of options to choose from. We then looked at her previous cakes to help give us some ideas of designs, Dawn was very creative and also accommodating to our ideas. The cakes she makes look and taste beautiful, we had lots of compliments from our guests. We would highly recommend Dawn to anyone looking for their dream wedding cake!

We first tasted Dawn’s cakes at our venue’s open day and from then, we knew that we wanted Dawn to make our cake. Dawn listened to her ideas but was more than confident in suggesting her own ideas. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the finished result. Lots of our guests have commented that it was the freshest wedding cake that they had ever had! We also had cupcakes from Dawn and they were delicious also. Thanks Dawn - you’re amazing xx

Hello Dawn, I'm so sorry I've not replied before now, things have been busy! We had an amazing day thank you, we couldn't have wished for anything more. We really did love our cake, how it opened up at the back and the snitches were amazing. The marbled colour on top was brilliant as well! You were amazing when contacting you, by both email and social media, we didn't have any worries at all. We only got to try the Victoria sponge and the chocolate as someone took the carrot cake layer from the venue!! I was sooo gutted as that's my favourite flavour 🙁. But we really did like both of the flavours, I'm not usually a big fan of chocolate cake but yours was just the right amount of chocolate! And the fruit running through the Victoria sponge really gave it loads of flavour! It definitely looked how we wanted it to, especially as I had such a particular design in my head but on a budget! I loved the way you helped with this as well! The colours were a fantastic match, they really went together well 🙂. The finish was also amazing, with the bottom layer of the castle being darker and then into light, it looked really good! We both really were so happy with it, we couldn't have asked for anything more. And you are brilliant as well, very easy to talk to and you understood everything we wanted. Thanks so much! ‘It’s the best wedding cake we have ever tasted’ ‘White chocolate ganache was amazing’ ‘Can I have two pieces?!’ These were all comments by our wedding guests! Morning Dawn, Firstly, it was lovely to meet you and your daughter on Saturday. Just wanted to say a massive thank you for producing such a stunningly beautiful cake is a short space of time! I can’t tell you how pleased I was with it - just looked gorgeous and exactly how I wanted it. Perfect. It tasted absolutely fantastic, and we had an awful lot of compliments about the taste, especially the fruit tier.
