What is your most memorable wedding?
The most memorable wedding would have to be when I had to put a taxidermy mouse on a fascinator in one of the bridesmaid’s hair! It was definitely a first, that’s for sure.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Vintage, modern, creative, memorable, lasting.
What about your business are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of achieving a portfolio that has given me so many lovely comments and thank you messages that make my job so worthwhile.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
My top tip to couples would be to get recommendations when planning your wedding, whether it’s via your venue or a friend. Word of mouth is the best.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
My favourite personal touch is from one of my lovely brides a few years ago now. She lived in London and was getting married there too. She made roses for the bouquets and hair accessories out of A-Z maps of London which she then painted with a translucent gold paint to add some shimmer. They looked great when I saw them on the wedding day.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
My typical process is to chat with or exchange emails with the bride. I usually don’t meet the groom! Once all the details are sent over and the bride is happy with the quote given we can get the ball rolling.
Prior to the big day we will do a trial run where we discuss ideas that will complement the bride’s face shape, dress, make up and any accessories she may be wearing. We try those ideas out until we find her perfect style.
On the big day I travel to the bride at a prearranged time so she can relax and enjoy the morning getting ready, while I recreate the look we came up with at the trial.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is the satisfaction of making someone look and feel amazing! It’s heartwarming to receive so many lovely thank you cards with such great feedback.
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
My #1 beauty tip for a bride would be treat your hair to a weekly conditioning treatment to keep it nice and healthy. There are many good quality hair masks you can now purchase to use at home.
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
I try to stay cool and professional, especially if there is some kind of stressful situation going on.
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
I would suggest having a little bottle of hairspray on the day. I usually give the bridal party some emergency clips in case and I usually advise no head banging on the dance floor as the hair may not withstand that!
