Butterfly Hair & Makeup

I originally had a different hair and makeup artist for my trial but was reassigned Olta for my wedding day. Olta arrived in good time, was super friendly and put my nerves at ease. She was absolutely fantastic! I dont regularly wear makeup so am quite sensitive around the eyes when I do but she knew exactly how to apply eyeliner and shadow as to not make my eyes water or get any smudges. I was so so happy with the final look. My mother who also had her hair and makeup done was just as happy, her makeup was flawless and her thin hair had lots if volume. Thank you, Olta! x

I am not someone who takes lightly to writing a 1 star review, but I am so disappointed with how my wedding morning went, and I would hate anyone else to go through the same experience, that I think it is only fair to write this. I could write pages about my experience but I will sum it up the best I can. Initially I was really impressed with Ashley, and I decided to pay in full to secure myself and 4 others for hair and makeup on my wedding day. I wasn’t prepared to pay more for an assistant (or for Ashley’s overnight accommodation) but Ashley assured me that this would be provided, if necessary. It transpires that it definitely was necessary but unfortunately Ashley did not bring anyone. I ended being half an hour late for my wedding, which was only a 2 minute drive away. After paying in full, Ashley’s communication became extremely poor and at one point, when we were about a week away from the wedding, I told Ashley that if I did not hear from her I wanted a refund. At this point she got in contact. On the morning of the wedding Ashley was late and we ended up starting half an hour late. Apparently this was a result of there being no hot water in the hotel room she was staying in. As the morning went on it was quite clear that we were going to be late. You could cut the tension with a knife, which is not something I thought I would experience on the morning of my wedding. Despite having all our pictures ready (these weren’t even looked at) and all doing exactly what we were told, Ashley grew increasingly snappy with us. The atmosphere was horrible. There are so many other things I could mention about the morning (making comments on people’s skin, not coming with a hair dryer, not having time to do my auntie’s makeup to name a few) but ultimately I am most disappointed that I did not get the same experience that other brides get. My dad didn’t get to see me walk down the stairs in my dress, we didn’t get to have any nice photos, my Mum didn’t help me put my dress on. This is because we were all rushing, and ultimately, Ashley needed to be on time and bring an assistant. Following the wedding I emailed Ashley with my comments and how upset I was. The response I received was an inadequate 1 line ignoring my comments. This really was the cherry on the cake for me and I am genuinely gutted. Be warned if you are looking for a make up artist who is organised, has good communication and time management and who puts you at ease, because in my experience Ashley does not provide any of these things.

My artist at Butterfly Hair & Makeup was such a joy to be around on the wedding day, with her friendly open manner. She made me feel so special and treated, and most importantly she made me look amazing for the big day! She listened carefully to what I wanted, understood the brief, and delivered beautiful results that so many people commented on all day. Little extras such as a Tropic mini facial in the morning, and a complimentary make up 'touch up' later in the day just because she was still at the venue, were really appreciated and just show Her kindness and professionalism and love of her job. We had a lot of fun in both the design appointment and on the morning of the wedding, which is really important on such a big occasion. Unfortunately, we did run ever so slightly late for the ceremony but that was due to a number of factors as well as getting the hair and makeup exactly right for me and my bridesmaids. Overall I really couldn't be happier with the service from the team, and I recommend Butterfly Hair & Makeup to any bride to be!

My genius hair and make-up artist from Butterfly Hair & Make-Up, helped me create my dream bridal hairstyle. I’d seen a cascade of gypsophila worn in a bride’s hair online and asked her if we could do it. She quickly sussed the style, experimenting with brown thread, hair pins and individual stems ahead of the big day. It was exactly what I wanted. 5 Stars! I cannot recommend Butterfly Wedding Hair and Makeup enough. From the initial phone call to the big day Ashley was professional and basically awesome. Ashley did my hair, my mum’s and my bridesmaid’s. The styling was faultless and can I add, stayed put all day, which is impressive because my hair has a mind of its own. She was funny, calm and extremely skilled at what she does. I feel extremely lucky to have found her.
