They went out of their way for us to have our perfect wedding. We also highly recommend Esther for catering. We started celebrations with a Friday evening welcome drinks on the front terrace of the main house, which was a great way to greet our guests and already get them excited for the main event. By night one everyone was blown away by the grounds, and they hadn't even seen the half of it. We had our wedding ceremony in the 12thC Church in the village, and then walked down to the riverside where we had our reception. What we really appreciated was that there were many different 'zones' in the garden we could move between. Reception by the river, dinner under the pergola surrounded by roses, Dance floor on the lawn and 'after-party' amongst the bamboo. (plus there was the formal garden for our guests to explore, and the pool...). Whilst it's an incredible location it doesn't feel overly 'commercial' or like you're getting a cookie-cutter deal. There was a laid-back atmosphere also helped by the privacy that the river and extensive grounds offer. We viewed a couple of venues but we felt so at home here! The river is so peaceful and the buildings add a touch of class. Ester and Dominic were truly amazing as we planned it all over the phone and the food was some of the best I’ve ever tasted ! All of the guests never stopped talking about the food and how stunning the grounds were. We will always treasure our special day here ! The atmosphere is very laid back, and the place is stunning so it was the perfect place for 3 days of festivities. The weather was perfect as well so it was great to be able to swim in the big pool and really turned it into a holiday and made it that much more special - I had booked a room in the village just 2 minutes walk. The village is very pretty too, the most romantic wedding setting I have come across !I discovered Le Prieuré as a maid of honour at my cousins wedding in 2024. We loved the fact that it has been a family home, it did not feel at all “corporate” as some wedding venues can. We loved being able to walk to the venue from the beautiful church in the village. The reception down by the river under the willow tree was truly special. A lot of our guests told us it was the best wedding they had ever attended. The team who run the venue were great – very communicative and everything ran smoothly on the day. We also used the property for a lunch and swimming (in the pool and the river) the day after the wedding. This was lovely as it gave our guests the chance to come back and spend time with us in a more informal setting. It was particularly good for people who had travelled over from the UK and were staying in the area for a few days. We loved everything about Le Prieuré and our wedding was everything we hoped it would be. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
Every wedding is special so it's not fair to pick out just one. Each event has those special moments, sometimes it's the welcome drinks on the friday when people first arrive at le Prieuré and meet up for the first time, or dancing into the small hours on the wedding night and of course our personal favourite the relaxing pool day after the wedding with a buffet lunch and sitting around chatting on the lawns playing croquet and ping pong...
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
If you can, Have an event over a few days so you can spend time with everyone !
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Difficult to pick out one thing as everybody has their unique style and ideas and thats what makes it interesting. People also use the space differently and choose different spots for the ceremony, in the last wedding on request of the bride and groom, we created a big circular space in the wild flower garden that is overlooked by the church and that was new and original and looked great !
