Wedding Reception
The Plough MarqueeHost your reception in The Marquee where romance and memories merge for you and your guests on a day to remember. Or dine in our intimate "Gallery", suitable for 10-20 guests.
Mark, head chef and owner, has been hosting weddings at The Plough since 2010, providing memorable experiences for couple and their guests.
All menus are created by Mark, using famous dishes that are served at his restaurant, The Plough @ Myrniong. Dine at his restaurant to experience the meals, wines and service you can expect for your event, eliminating having a "test-run" on your wedding day!
Indulge in the ultimate experience at The Plough with overnight accommodation in one of our studio rooms located on-site.
Fully-cooked breakfast the following morning is prepared by Chef Mark, leaving you with a memory of The Plough @ Myrniong which will draw you back, time and time again!
Absolutely! The Plough is proudly owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Mark and Ruth Mills. Mark is also our Head Chef, so you'll be discussing your wedding menu directly with the person who will actually be cooking it! Ruth works alongside you to plan the celebrations, bringing everything together with warmth, attention to detail and a genuine love of hospitality.
No revolving wedding coordinators or faceless catering companies here. Just two people who genuinely care about making your day wonderful.
Food is at the heart of everything we do at The Plough.
Unlike venues that bring in outside caterers, we have our own professional kitchen, led by owner and Head Chef Mark Mills. From beautifully prepared canapés to memorable wedding feasts, our food is created by chefs who cook for our restaurant guests every day.
Mark works directly with couples to create a menu that reflects their tastes, rather than simply offering a one-size-fits-all wedding package.
After all, your wedding meal should be something your guests talk about for all the right reasons!
For starters, The Plough has been welcoming guests since 1861! Our historic bluestone hotel combines 165 years of character with contemporary dining and genuine country hospitality. Mark + Ruth have been here for the past 17 years and have hosted hundreds of weddings, as well hundreds of other functions.
Think roaring open fires, beautiful stonework, intimate spaces, an extensive wine cellar and a stunning purpose-built venue referred to as The Marquee.
We're not a wedding factory. We're a much-loved restaurant and historic hotel where weddings are personally hosted, food really matters, and every celebration becomes another chapter in our story.
Yes! Our charming Stables provide a wonderfully atmospheric setting for wedding ceremonies, while our beautiful Marquee offers a spacious and elegant reception venue.
With its chandelier, silk-lined ceiling and dedicated bar, the Marquee accommodates up to 120 seated guests. While our smaller, more intimate weddings of 10-20 guests celebrate in The Gallery.
Having your ceremony and reception in one location means less travelling, more celebrating and plenty of time to enjoy the company of your favourite people.
We certainly do! Not every couple dreams of a wedding with 120 guests, and we think smaller celebrations deserve just as much magic.
Alongside our Marquee, The Plough offers several beautiful private dining spaces, including our intimate Gallery and atmospheric bluestone dining rooms.
Whether you're imagining an elegant gathering with your closest family or a larger celebration with everyone you love, we can help you find the setting that feels just right.
Yes! The Plough has four charming accommodation rooms on-site, perfect for the newlyweds or close family members who would rather not travel after the celebrations.
And there's another little treat: breakfast is prepared by Mark, our owner and Head Chef. It's a lovely way to ease into married life, enjoying a relaxed country morning after the excitement of your big day.
No! At The Plough, we believe your wedding budget should be spent on the things that really matter – wonderful food, beautiful wines and celebrating with the people you love.
Our stunning reception venue, The Marquee, is available without a separate venue hire fee, with a minimum of 40 seated guests. Rather than paying simply to use the space, you can put more of your budget towards creating a memorable celebration.
And with owner and Head Chef Mark personally overseeing your menu, alongside Ruth helping bring your plans together, you'll enjoy something that's hard to put a price on – genuine, personal hospitality from the people who own the venue.
No unnecessary extras. No cookie-cutter weddings. Just great food, great hospitality and a beautiful place to say "I do".
