Describe the best wedding that happened at Pioneer Country?
It was a cost effective, do-it-yourself styling wedding held in deepest winter (or at least as deep as the Gold Coast get during winter) last year. The bride was truly creative and made velvet coats for her bridesmaids and big 3D golden stars and moons to hand from our rafters. Her arbour was made from twisted sticks and she played to warm autumnal colours in her florals, dress fabrics and table styling. This couple also proved a previous misconception I harboured. It turns out you can have everyone on the dance floor with a Spotify playlist if you invest the time to curate your own wedding playlist (they used my professional quality EV speakers to bang out their tunes). Garreth and Sam also managed to disprove traditional timelines and they pulled off their Hello May front cover wedding within a couple of months from booking.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
You can "No"
"NO" to pressure from family and friends to have XYZ (whatever, read "traditional sit-down menu", "church", "20 bridesmaids", "kids", "no-kids" etc etc)
"NO" to overspending on ancillaries eg photobooth, favours
The day is about YOUR LOVE, you can express yourselves as you see fit and within your budget. I will be able to support your choices, act as a sounding board and help you deliver your dreams.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
The bride and groom had been renovating a tiny home they were about to take on a lap around Australia. They dragged the Tiny Home to Pioneer Country and set it up as a display home so their family and friends could tour it during cocktail hour. It gave their guests an insight into the exciting adventure they were about to embark upon.
