Stunning Wedding Venue at Hayman Island

We visited Hayman Island for a wedding. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service, the accommodation and the island experience overall. Whilst it wasn't the cheapest place we have stayed, it is certainly one of the most beautiful and relaxing experiences, and we will definitely return.

Phenomenal Service on Hayman Island Wedding Venue

From being picked up on the ferry, to arriving and then departing, the service was nothing short of phenomenal. Our Captian on the ferry, Wayne was very insightful and even allowed for us to stop and watch the spectacular show the whales put on. Also on the ferry was Shawn (or Shaun) who took down our details for check in. He was so professional, with a great sense of humour. On our arrival to Hayman Island, our rooms were so clean and comfortable. Emma, the Wedding Planner was spectacular.

Wedding Venue Disaster: Chaos and Disappointment

This was supposed to be our daughter's dream wedding... Total chaos from start to finish with a wedding planner out of her depth Reception set up below high tide mark, an island resort that was not aware of tides. Cold and raw coral trout mains. Cafes without baristas, bar staff unable to make cocktails, insufficient and unskilled reception staff upon check out. On a positive note... wait staff on launch to Airlie Beach was most attentive and provided best service of stay

Disappointing Experience at Hayman Island

Give Hayman a miss. There are other islands just as beautiful, if not more so, where you'll have a better experience. I'm not sure if it's covid related but the staff were poor and activities were constantly being cancelled. Staff in cafe couldn't make coffee. Staff at bar couldn't make cocktails. Facilities run down (toilets at pool overflowing and moldy, water bottle stations not working etc.). You pay a 5 star rate, you expect 5 star service.
